With a diverse culinary background, Executive Chef Jason Bergeron serves Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen guests with the imagination, passion and skill he’s gained during his more than 20 years in kitchens across the country.
Born in Lowell, Mass., Bergeron grew up in southern New Hampshire. His interest in cooking began at a young age opting to watch Julia Child on TV instead of cartoons. He began his culinary career at 15 and quickly excelled as an apprentice with James Beard Award-winning chef, Bernhard Götz, at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston.
Following his apprenticeship, Bergeron enrolled at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. to refine his skills and harness his talent. After graduation, he worked as an executive chef at high-volume Boston restaurants including Main Street Bistro, and Chroma’s sister restaurants Blackhawk Grille in California and Joe’s American Bar & Grill in Boston. During that time Bergeron gained experience with French, American, Spanish and Asian cuisines while also developing his kitchen management and customer service skills.
Throughout his career, Bergeron’s modern American style has been influenced by world cuisines thanks to his years of experience and his family. In his current role, he continues to push the limits of creativity pulling inspiration from Florida’s culture and bounty of local ingredients.
